'In The World of Colour and Shape - Maija Isola', secures Finnish part of financing


Feature documentary about Marimekko fabric designer Maija Isola has received production funding from Finnish Film Foundation and The Promotion Centre for Audiovidual Culture (AVEK)


In The World of Colour and Shape - Maija Isola is written and directed by Leena Kilpeläinen, who is also Director of Photography.  Film is produced by Merja Ritola. Other key creatives include sound designer Pietari Koskinen, composer Sanna Salmenkallio and cameraman Joona Petterson

Maija Isola's productive period as a fabric designer for Marimekko was between 1949 – 1987. But she began her career as a painter in 1946 and continued painting and drawing until her death. Maija was an avid traveller and she lived in various cities and countries throughout her life. The documentary film moves from place to place in the footsteps of Maija. The change of location forms the principal structure of the film. Documentary has been commissioned by Finnish Broadcasting Company, YLE.
