Inderjit Kaur Khalsa
Director, screenwriter, author
Inderjit received her Master’s Degree in Acting at the Theater Academy of Finland. After graduating in 1997 she attended New York Film Academy, and has been working with radio, tv and film for almost 25 years.
Her first documentary film The Boys of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn premiered in Finnish theaters in 2014. In 2017 her second documentary film War/Peace was released. It was the first part of Inderjits activism series, that includes three separate documentary films. While War/Peace introduced the activism in the past, her current film Power of the People concentrates on the present-day activism. The third part of the series will discuss what activism will look like in the future.
Inderjit is also a published author. Her three non-fiction books were published with Tammi Publishing, and the forth book will be published in February 2021 by Viisas Elämä. She is a founder of Kundalini Yoga Helsinki, and co-owner of the studio where she teaches, and has teacher trainings. In all her work the main focus is in peace, freedom, justice and human rights.
Inderjit has one son and she lives in Helsinki, Finland. She is currently studying History and Global Development at the Open University of Helsinki.
